The typical hurricane season in Orlando runs from the start of June until late November. During this time, anyone in the Orlando area should look out for news on tropical storms forming around the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico.
Now is also a good time to start stocking up on hurricane related supplies. Some of the supplies include:
Any portable self-powered light source: Flashlights, Lanterns and Candles
Any gas or diesel fuel container, including LP gas and kerosene containers.
Coolers and ice chests (food-storage; nonelectrical)
Batteries, including rechargeable batteries, listed sizes only (excluding automobile and boat batteries):
Bungee cords
Ground anchor systems
Ratchet straps
Tarpaulins (tarps)
Tie-down kits
Visqueen, plastic sheeting, plastic drop cloths, and other flexible waterproof sheeting
Radios (powered by battery, solar, or handcrank)
Also, Florida’s sales tax free weekend for hurricane supplies begins Friday, June 1, 2018 and extends through Thursday, June 7, 2018. So stock up and save at the same time!
